Things to know. Important things.
- Bathrooms: You have to pay here. If you don’t have cash, you can’t pee. Buuut they’re generally cleaner and have more enclosed stalls with locks that tell you if it’s occupied or not.
- Public Transport: I haven’t needed or wanted a car here once. The transport system in Prague can get you everywhere. Probably the moon, if you tried and switched trains once or twice.
- Water: It’s not free here and in Prague, it’s not particularly cheap either. A free glass of water is something I don’t take for granted anymore. At the same time, excellent Czech beer is cheaper than water (even though it’s mostly water…hmmm).
- Tipping: In Prague, you just round up to tip. There is no need to do complicated math or leave 15-25% of your bill. Just round up and go. 5-10% will do just fine.
- Dogs: They’re everywhere and they are sooo adorable…but the owners don’t like to use leashes, so you’ll see dogs just wandering the street. They’re not strays, they’re just free-spirited.
- Smoking: People smoke inside here and it smells. I’m not a fan. The extra running I do to get around people blowing smoke in my face counteracts the deleterious effects of second-hand smoke. Or so I tell myself.
