Dr. Hooton has a 30-year history of clinical care and research in Infectious Diseases and especially UTI in women since 1981 when he started a fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of Washington. He has a strong interest in antimicrobial stewardship and methods to reduce our dependence on antimicrobials in the treatment and prevention of infections, especially UTI. Dr. Hooton has authored or co-authored over 140 peer-reviewed journal articles and over 200 other articles, book chapters and abstracts in the fields of UTI, antimicrobial stewardship, STDs, and HIV/AIDS.
